As part of my ongoing project, 'Emotional bodies,' I exhibited the work I had done to date since December 2024, when the idea first came to me.
I keep updating the idea, realising that the artist in you sometimes knows something that the analytic cannot yet grasp. Trying to put the process into words is pointless when the right words have not arrived yet.
Sometimes, you need to see things on the wall to understand the message you are sending through your work.
What are these squares anyway? They are Points in Time. The timeline is weaved into a net, made of empty square holes. Perhaps they are invisible because there is no disturbance; they are, peacefully and gracefully, 'in time'.
The net is pinned to the wall, and this is where the Points are. Points of intense happenings, generative tanglings, and structure compressions are places that memory holds as images.
Who are the silhouettes?
They are the Entities created around those Points, described by the accumulation of specific emotions, expressed through a theatrical character only to become a part of the Self, the Identity, the Personality, the 'You'.
What happens if one decides to take the pin out? The fabric smoothes out, and we can recognise the squares again, stretched into the surface like the terrain on a map where we can orient ourselves in order to finally feel found and not lost.
What happens to the Points then?
They become artwork on the wall, and finally one starts recognising that the Self, which may have felt like someone else's jacket, was never a garment to begin with. It was a safety net, a veil, a web...
Does it exist then, when all the pins are removed?
Ask me again when I have accomplished this task.
